Tango Design’s name was inspired by the tango music which originates from The River Plate which runs
between Buenos Aires, Argentina and Montevideo, Uruguay.
Paulo Martinez, owner and creator of the product lines coming out of Tango Design was born in Uruguay to a large family where food and gatherings were a huge part of the culture. Paulo’s grandfather was his inspiration as he was a carpenter and cabinet maker and exposed Paulo at a young age to learn about the different woods and carving which inspired Paulo to go to art school where he studied sculpture and wood carving under an instructor from Spain who was friends with Picasso!Paulo’s creativity and passions lie in wood and food which has translated into creating all kinds and shapes of charcuterie boards and boards for the famous Parillada – Asado being the main beef meat served on a large wooden board. The Parillada is a blend of different meats being served from which everyone then chooses their portion. From these origins has sprung a line of various types of furniture pieces such as floating side tables; stackable shoe racks; sofa tables; buffet tables and more.
